Depression and Anxiety – Keith Story

Keith was referred to me by his employer. He had been suffering with depression and anxiety which had been diagnosed by his GP and he had been signed off work for three months.

During our initial appointment and assessment, we formulated a plan to work through his symptoms. It was Keith’s goal to get to a place of happiness and inner peace and this is what I’d help him with. Keith was so determined and motivated to complete the work. He wanted to be in a space clear of anxious, stressful thoughts and feelings, low mood, and negative thinking. This was a pattern that had blighted him for many years, and he wanted to work through it once and for all.

Keith had received support previously, via his GP. However, this was very basic CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) sessions over the telephone. Keith had a poor experience and wanted to work with a specialist to break free the pattern he had been experiencing for many years. He was determined to make change.

As is the case oftentimes with clients, Keith really looked forward to sessions and very much enjoyed our work together. This was because he was noticing positive change in a noticeably short space of time. Change he had not experienced in years. I always work in a very relaxed, non-judgmental way and Keith was also learning about mindset, his own limiting beliefs and gained an in-depth understanding as to why he had had been stuck in familiar patterns for many years and what he could now do differently. Not only that, we got straight to work with some of his major difficulties before we did anything else. So lack of sleep. This was really plaguing Keith. We worked on it immediately and within the first couple of weeks he experiences great change and huge improvements with his sleep.

We then worked on presenting issues in relation to anxiety and depression. Using a blend of intensive hypnotherapy, including reframes and timeline therapy, we were able to help Keith let go of past events and experiences that were keeping him stuck and in self sabotage mode. Not only that but we worked with Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) tapping to help him let go of emotional attachments to old subconscious limiting beliefs that were keeping him in old patterns.

Once this is worked on, behaviours connected to anxiety and depression then start to drop off. Low mood, the need to catastrophise, negative thought patterns, feelings of overwhelm, worrying about what others think, low productivity and lack of zest for life.

Once we worked through these, Keith experienced dramatic changes. These old ways of being started to drop off. They became a thing of the past. Keith started to look and feel so much better within himself. Instead of being in a place where he did not enjoy life and the relationships around him, he started to live in a space of happiness and excitement, looking forward to his future, rather than dreading them.

At the end of our work together, Keith said to me:

“You’ve changed my life”.

It was music to my ears. The difference he had made to his life was something else. I was so happy about his progress, success, and huge life change.

The good news is, we do not need to suffer. If you are experiencing something similar, or resonate with any of this, there is support there. You CAN change.

Two weeks after our work together, Keith contacted me to say after returning to his GP to assess his anti-depressant medication. He was taken off all medication, for the first time in months. As a result, Keith felt so much better in himself, and this was the final piece of the puzzle for him and to live his new life.

Here is what Keith had to say:

“When I started seeing Janine I had recently returned to work after being signed off ill with work related stress and depression, my first time ever. I was in a bad place. I was on anti-depressants and suffering from low confidence and poor self-esteem. I had tried an online CBT course, but it hadn’t really worked for me.

Janine changed my life. Her techniques are well described on her website. I benefited the most from hypnotherapy and to a degree, EFT. It was empowering to have somebody so non-judgmental to talk with.

For the first time in nine months, I am off anti-depressant medication. Janine taught me the skills and gave me the motivation to take back control of my life”.
