How does tapping work with depression?

Managing depression and the associated signs and symptoms can be very difficult. Coupled with feelings of helplessness, it can be very hard to navigate. Sadness can persist that becomes extremely exhausting over time. Intense, negative feelings can be experienced which can lead to a number of emotional and physical issues.

Tapping can help get to the root cause of an issue and eliminate the symptoms of depression with ease. Much of the scientific research shows how it can eliminate the symptoms of severe trauma such as PTSD. Tapping has been proven to be long lasting and effective and the science backs this up.

Fight or flight

What tapping does, is works on the fight or flight response. It works with a part of the brain called the amygdala that is responsible for controlling the fight or flight response and where negative emotions are encoded. It sends a calming signal to this part of the brain. Thus, we can stop feeling the anxiety.

Tapping works as an amazing self help tool, so any feelings connected to low mood or if situations trigger depressive feelings, you can use tapping to help calm down these feelings and feel in a better space.

Working with an experienced clinician or practitioner, you work at a much deeper level. During sessions the root cause of depression is also worked on. This may often be linked to old beliefs and unhelpful related behaviours. Once this is done, anxiety and depression can then be a thing of the past and often much quicker than you might think. We work in a very gentle way, in the here and now.

The good news: How tapping helps

Neural pathways wiring the brain aren’t fixed in place. We are constantly being shaped by experience. The brain is therefore seen as malleable, a term to describe this is ‘neuroplasticity’.

With every repetition of a thought or emotion, we reinforce a neural pathway. With each new thought, we begin to create a new way of being. These small changes, frequently enough repeated, lead to changes in how our brains work.

In this way, it is an amazing technique at helping us let go of past trauma. Tapping will help to let go of the negative emotional attachment to old traumas and patterns. It does so by rewiring the neural pathways that have been firing and wiring, thus reinforcing the trauma.

By using EFT, this helps us gently and effectively let go of the past, leading to positive and lasting change.

You can eliminate anxiety or depression, you don’t need to suffer.
